Transforming your bathroom

There are some simple ways in which a competent DIY person can transform the look of a bathroom without having to dig into the credit card and spend a lot of cash. Creating the effect of more space can be achieved by some simple and easy additions.

For example for a few pounds you can add a mirror above the bath, this is most effective in a small bathroom, but it is a good addition for any size of bathroom. Put a mirror as large as you can afford at eye level above the bath, the effect will surprise you.

Is the bath looking a bit dull and old, simple, re-enamel it and providing the bath is not damaged or chipped it can successfully be enamelled. Specialist enamel paints are available at good DIY stores.

If you have an overbath shower then a way to create space when you are showering is to fit a curved style shower curtain rail. These are readily available and should not set you back more than about £15,

If the taps and other brassware are looking sad and the chrome has scaled up and damaged, taps and fittings do not cost the earth and are easily changed for new modern drip free items.

Removing those old tiles from around the bath and basin and fitting modern mosaic tiles to the splash back and around the bath can offer a new look. Choose from the latest designs in glass tiles, or modern ceramics, they are all easy clean and can transform a bathroom.
