You’ve dug deep into your old, dark bathroom cabinets for the last time, only to come up empty-handed. Where is that spare bar of soap or the shaving crème? One of the fastest ways to make your bathroom more accessible and enjoyable is to rip out those old cabinets and replace them with new ones.

A bathroom cabinet dates a room, so if yours are from a bygone decade or even a bygone era, you may be creating more work for yourself than is necessary. Today’s bathroom cabinets come with all sorts of conveniences and amenities to make your life easier and the mornings much more pleasant.

Slide-out drawers and racks allow you to reach everything, even that extra soap bar at the back, with ease. Built-in organisers keep everything in it place and easy to find and recessed lighting means even on the darkest winter morning you can see the things you need. New bathroom cabinets are also a wonderful way to update your decor. Choose from every kind and colour of wood imaginable or consider more modern touches of chrome, steel or glass.

Pre-built cabinets, in standard sizes, can save you quite a bit of money. If your bathroom is an odd size or has non-standard angles, consider installing pre-built cabinets for the bulk of your transformation and adding one or two custom pieces to fit into those odd corners.

Whatever you decide, you’ll love the transformation of your bathroom once the new cabinets are installed. As an added bonus, the ability to find everything easily will get your mornings off to a much better start.

The Importance of a Good Bathroom Mirror is a post from Let Me Build It! Just as you wouldn’t imagine having a bathroom without a bathroom suite, you equally wouldn’t expect to have a bathroom without a bathroom mirror.

The Importance of a Good Bathroom Mirror is a post from Let Me Build It!

Just as you wouldn’t imagine having a bathroom without a bathroom suite, you equally wouldn’t expect to have a bathroom without a bathroom mirror. These items are useful in many ways and if you haven’t yet decided what type of bathroom mirror you should be looking for you should give some thought to what will work best for you. For example, you can buy heated bathroom mirrors, which are harder to steam up than standard ones. The big advantage with these is that the mirror is never misted up and therefore doesn’t have to be wiped before you can use it.

A well-chosen bathroom mirror can finish off a bathroom and make a statement in ways that many other items cannot. You will find that a good mirror will become the focal point of the whole room, so it is better to purchase something attractive rather than a basic and plain model. In this sense it is worth investing what you can into a good bathroom mirror. Some have additional features such as lights and once again this can solve two problems for you. Not only will you will have a nice mirror to look at, but you will also have a neat solution if you need more subtle lighting in your bathroom.

Always remember that it is worth shopping around, not only to get the best design, but also the best price; UK Bathrooms have a wide range of bathroom mirrors in stock at affordable prices and can help you make the perfect purchase.

Bathroom accessories come in numerous different types in the modern world. From toilet roll holders to towel racks to towel rails, bathroom shelves, tumblers, toilet brushes, robe hooks and soap dishes, bathroom accessories are a permanent fixture in every household.

Soap dishes are, as the name suggests, small dishes that are designed to hold bars of soap. Soap dishes were invented for a purely practical and logical purpose. When wet, bars of soap become notoriously slippery and thus after use they are very difficult to keep in one place, such as on the side of a wash basin or bathtub; therefore the soap dish was invented to keep the soap in place whilst still located near the area where it is most likely to be utilised. Some wash basins actually come with their own soap dish already built in, usually in the form of a small groove near to the tap area. Usually coming in an oval shape (although there are other variations in existence), soap dishes are made from various substances including metal, ceramic, plastic and glass. Soap dispensers can vary in price from very cheap plastic versions to surprisingly expensive designer models.

For soap variations such as foam soap or liquid soap, a soap dish is not used, with those usually being kept in soap dispensers, which are essentially plastic pumps that squeeze out the liquid or foam soap when a handled is pressed. This kind of soap is most often the favoured form of soap used in public facilities.

With the drop in property prices, many people have chosen to remain in their current homes; however, the reason they wanted to move originally has not gone away. As a result, there has actually been an increase in the number of people taking on DIY projects and bathroom renovation is leading the list.

New bathroom cabinets are a quick way to give your bathroom an entirely new look and feel. Sleek, modern cabinets with built-in or recessed lighting can update your bathroom in a weekend. Add a fresh coat of paint and perhaps a new light fixture or two and an old, small and dark room can look completely different.

When choosing bathroom cabinets, look carefully at the design and construction, and compare that with how long you plan to remain in your home. If you intend to be there for a number of years, spending a little more for higher-quality construction is a good choice. This is also a consideration for children’s bathrooms, which tend to take much more abuse than adults rooms.

A bathroom cabinet can have a wide variety of options, such as slide-out drawers, recessed lighting, hidden storage and shelves in a variety of configurations. If you find an exterior or face that you love, very often the interior can be modified to suit your needs. This is known as a semi-custom cabinet and is a wonderful option for those who have specific needs, but also want to save money.

Measure your space, consider your needs and then find the bathroom cabinets that do everything you want. You’ll be amazed at what a difference it will make.

Bathroom cabinets, also known as bathroom vanity units, are cabinets that are placed in a bathroom, either above the toilet or usually above or below the sink. Occasionally, these vanities are sold with a sink, but most of the time it is up to the consumer to purchase a vanity which will fit with the sink that already have installed in their bathroom. Even when the sink is included with the vanity cabinet, more often than not the consumer will still have to also purchase faucets for the sink. They are there to store items relevant to bathroom activities, such as toothbrushes for teeth cleaning, soap for washing purposes, and even make up. Family medicines are also sometimes kept in the bathroom vanity, and some vanities will even come with an additional small cabinet specifically for such medicines.

Bathroom cabinets come in a variety of different sizes, shapes and styles; this can be daunting but a bathroom supplier like UK Bathrooms can help you choose the right one. Some bathroom vanities resemble traditional cabinets, while others merely look like an attachment to the bathroom sink, which can be a more appropriate choice for a particularly small sized bathroom. There are even some much larger bathroom cabinets with both a normal cabinet area and even drawers for items such as towels and razors etc. As a result of the various types, bathroom cabinets likewise range in price, with some available for just a few hundred pounds or less, with others priced as high as several thousand. Bathroom cabinets generally come with a top that is either tiled or made in marble.

How to Determine the Number of Ceramic Tiles You’ll Need is a post from Let Me Build It!

Ceramic tiles are a wonderful choice for improving a space. They are easy to clean, they look nice, and they come in a variety of sizes, colours, and patterns.

While there are odd-shaped ceramic tiles available, most come in a standard square or rectangle shape. Sizes generally range from 100 mm x 100 mm to 330 mm x 445 mm. As for colour and texture, well what’s your desire? The plethora of colours and shades is as endless as your imagination.

Ceramic tiles also come in varying qualities and thickness. Your intended use will partially determine which you go for, but budget generally plays the biggest role in the decision.

To determine how many tiles you will need, measure the height and width of an area you’re planning to tile and multiply the two measurements. Repeat this process for each tiling area, subtracting any door or window space from your calculations. (But, remember to include window recesses, etc. if you’re planning to tile them.)

Once you’ve got all of your tiling area calculated, divide the total tiling space by the area of one of the tiles you’ve selected for your project and then add 10% to allow room for mistakes (broken tiles, wrong cuts, etc.) This number will be how many tiles you will need to buy.

Tiles come in boxes, designated by design, colour, etc. and batch number. Because dye batches vary, try to pick your tile sets from the same batch number to ensure a consistent look.

Accessorising a small bathroom is a post from Let Me Build It!

If space is at a premium adding suitable bathroom accessories in a small bathroom must be carefully considered. Bathroom mirrors are perfect for making a room look bigger than it actually is. A well placed bathroom mirror will provide extra light in the room by reflecting light from the window to create brightness, and will also create a feeling of more space.

Storage space in a small bathroom is often a problem. One way around this is to utilise some wall space. Wall mounted bathroom cabinets can often serve two purposes. They give additional storage without taking up floor space and many now have mirrored doors. This can also save money by there being no need to purchase a separate bathroom mirror.

Designer bathroom radiators and heated towel rails are also available in many different designs, some of which are perfect for a smaller area. There is now a designer radiator to suit all tastes; they come in all shapes and sizes (some even resemble wall art), which would make a pleasing feature in a small bathroom. Heated towel rails serve three purposes, firstly, and the most obvious, they heat the towels before use; secondly, they help to heat the room. Although not giving out much heat, in a small room they are ideal, and lastly, they serve as a storage space for a few towels and flannels reducing the need for a separate cupboard.

Under basin storage is a good idea, vanity units and similar bathroom furniture such as overhead storage (which are cupboards built up and over the toilet cistern), all help to keep floor space clear, thereby making the bathroom appear larger.

Accessorising a wet room is a post from Let Me Build It!

When choosing which accessories will best suit a home’s wet room, certain points must be taken into consideration. The space available in the room is obviously most important, there is no point in buying several bathroom cabinets if only one will fit comfortably in the space. When floor space is at a premium, then wall cupboards are one solution. A bathroom cabinet that fits into a corner is an excellent use of space, and is extremely practical.

If there is to be no shower enclosure, such as shower curtain or shower door, then everything in the room will be damp to the touch after use. Therefore wooden or wicker items will eventually rot away or go mouldy very quickly. It is wise to consider this fact when purchasing ‘fitted’ items such as a towel rail or a toilet roll holder set. Plastic items are cheaper and will last much longer that wooden or other porous materials, and chrome accessories give a very stylish look and are easy to clean.

Shower accessories are an important consideration as shelves inside the shower area are not convenient for some people. It is possible to buy a pole that fits into the corner of the shower that has several small shelves on it. These fit flush to the wall and take up very little space, thereby not getting in the way of anyone trying to manoeuvre around the shower area. These are perfect for keeping shampoo, conditioner and soap within easy reach. A chrome wire version of this is ideal as any drops of water will drain away, making cleaning very easy.

Bathmats in a wet room should be avoided where possible due to the damp. Duckboards are a much better and very stylish option.

If you are planning a bathroom remodelling project, choosing the right shower tray for your washroom will help maximise valuable floor space in your bathroom, and compliment your overall design. Use the following guide to help you figure the appropriate shower tray for your bathroom.

Rectangular shower trays are the largest and provide the most interior room, but they can take up lots of space in a small bathroom. Square shower trays are slightly more compact, but still provide plenty of room for a comfortable shower. Pentangle shower trays are comparable to square bases, but have a single corner cut off to decrease the floor space they occupy. These are an excellent choice for corner shower enclosures.

Synthetic materials like acrylic or fibreglass are the most affordable and easiest to care for options for shower trays. They are lightweight and relatively simple to install, though offer little in the way of aesthetic design. Natural materials like stone, ceramic, tiles, or glass are more stylish choices. While using natural materials can really boost your bathroom’s style factor, they are typically more expensive and harder to maintain.

Deep shower trays can double as bathtubs, which further increases functionality in small bathrooms. Both natural and synthetic materials come in an endless array of colours to compliment any decor.

Most importantly, take time to fully plan your new bathroom, and make allowances for the look you want, and the space you have to work with.

Few things are as essential to the well-heeled bathroom as a good quality bathroom mirror. Not only can a good mirror compliment your bathroom decor, but it can also help make a small space appear larger and bring more light into a dark room. Choosing a bathroom mirror wisely will ensure you get the full benefits of this powerful design element.

Bathroom mirrors come in all shapes and sizes, literally. With some time and a little creative bargain hunting you can find a mirror to suit your budget, style, and wall space. Styles available include; square, round, oval, oblong, or rectangular. Single, seamless units or fragmented units are possible. Ornamental pieces; framed, mounted in a bathroom cabinet door, or with a floating edge; available in large or small sizes; decorative or functional, the choice is yours.

For small bathrooms, adding a large bathroom mirror or several smaller mirrors can give the illusion of depth and size. Placing decorative mirrors on opposing walls will also lend some dimension to the space. If your bathroom has limited natural lighting, wall mounting mirrors strategically placed, will help reflect existing light and make your room appear brighter.

Cabinet-mounted bathroom mirrors often serve a more practical function, as they are mounted above a sink or vanity, and usually house a medicine cabinet or small storage unit. Generally, you should choose a mirror that compliments the finish and style of your bathroom cabinets for a balanced look.

Selecting a stylish, functional bathroom mirror can add elegance, light, and illusion of space to even the smallest washroom.
